Chim Sao Field is located at Block 12W in the Nam Con Son basin, 350 km away from Vung Tau coast. Premier Oil Company (UK) and its partners discovered Chim Sao Field in November 2006 and have been allowed to produce by the Government of Vietnam in 2009. In March 2011, Chim Sao platform with subsea piping system and gas export pipeline system in the first phase of Chim Sao and Dua field development project was inaugurated and put into operation. In October 2011, Premier Oil Company welcomed the first oil flow, marking the successful production of oil and gas in Chim Sao Field.

Chim Sao Field has reserves of about 50 million barrels of oil, of which Premier Oil Company, UK is holding 53.125% equity interest, Santos Group Australia wits 31.875% and PetroVietnam 15%. Chim Sao Field is expected to provide about 25,000 barrels of oil and about 700 thousand m3 of associated gas per day.

Chim Sao is the first oil field in block 12W to be produced. In future, there will be more oil and gas fields produced from this block, contributing additional oil and gas production for the national economy.
Associated gas produced in Chim Sao Field will be transported through 10 inche pipelines under the sea with length of 96.5 km to the Nam Con Son pipeline system at delivery point with code KP75, 75 km away from Lan Tay platform. Gas will be processed onshore at Nam Con Son Gas Pipeline Terminal (Dinh Co) and then will be provided to the customers / consumers at Phu My area.

The signing of the agreements on Chim Sao Field, Block 12W, gas gathering and transportation marks a new stage of development of PV Gas in developing internal resources and seeking business opportunities in the gas sector, contributing on additional gas sources to consumers of electricity and fertilizer and industrial areas, providing the basis for PV gas to enforce the security policy of the National energy.
