PV GAS affirms its leading position with three Vietnam Records
Recently, Petrovietnam Gas Joint Stock Corporation (PV GAS) was honored by the Vietnam Records Organization (VietKings) with three Vietnam Records, recognizing landmark projects that bear a pioneering imprint in the exploitation, operation, and processing of natural gas. These achievements further affirm PV GAS’s leading position in the gas and energy sector, making significant contributions to national energy security and playing a guiding role in the country’s green transition pathway.
PV GAS was honored to receive three Vietnam Records in the following categories:
- Nam Con Son Gas Processing Plant: The gas processing plant with the largest processing capacity in Vietnam (since 2013, with a maximum capacity of 22 million cubic meters of gas per day, equivalent to approximately 8.0 billion cubic meters per year).
- Nam Con Son Gas Pipeline: The longest two-phase pipeline transporting natural gas and liquid condensate, with the largest gas transportation capacity in Vietnam (the pipeline has a diameter of 26 inches and a total length of 371.09 km, including onshore and offshore sections, with a maximum transportation capacity of 23.2 million cubic meters of gas per day).
- Operator of Thi Vai LNG Terminal: The first liquefied natural gas (LNG) terminal in Vietnam, in operation since 2023.
Three projects, three symbols of the pioneering journey and leadership of Vietnam’s gas industry
These records were officially certified on August 28, 2025, by the World Records Union – Central Council of the Vietnam Records Holders Association, under the attestation of Lawyer Nguyen Van Vien, Director of the Vietnam Institute of Intellectual Property, and Professor, Academician Hoang Quang Thuan, Chairman of the Founding Council of the Vietnam Records Organization.

Mrs. Nguyen Thi Quynh Ngoc, Secretary General of VietKings and Deputy Director of the Vietnam Records Institute, represented the organization in announcing the Decision on the recognition of Vietnam Records.
The establishment of these records underscores the stature of PV GAS throughout its 35-year journey in developing Vietnam’s gas industry, while also serving as compelling evidence of the Company’s pioneering spirit, outstanding capabilities, and strong aspiration to conquer technological frontiers demonstrated by its workforce.
Among the recognized projects, the Thi Vai LNG Terminal holds particular significance, marking a major milestone that officially ushered Vietnam into the era of clean LNG utilization. Construction of the terminal was commenced by PV GAS in 2019 and it officially came into operation in 2023. As Vietnam’s first, largest, and most modern LNG project, the Thi Vai LNG Terminal features a jetty capable of receiving LNG carriers of up to 100,000 DWT, storage tanks with a total capacity of 180,000 cubic meters, and an average throughput capacity of 1 million tons of LNG per year. In Phase 2, the terminal’s capacity is expected to increase to 3 million tons of LNG per year.
The Nam Con Son Gas Pipeline, which was launched in 2001 and completed within 18 months, is a two-phase pipeline system with a total length of 371.09 km, comprising both onshore and offshore sections, and a diameter of 26 inches. With a gas transportation capacity of up to 23.2 million cubic meters per day, the pipeline conveys gas from fields in the Nam Con Son Basin to the Nam Con Son Gas Processing Plant, where it is processed and subsequently supplied to gas consumers in the Southeast region. Beyond being the longest and highest-capacity pipeline in Vietnam, the Nam Con Son Gas Pipeline also stands as a symbol of effective cooperation between PV GAS and its international partners in the management, operation, and exploitation of a strategic national energy resource.
Meanwhile, the Nam Con Son Gas Processing Plant, with a maximum capacity of 22 million cubic meters of gas per day, is currently the largest gas processing facility in Vietnam. In 2008, the addition of the second gas processing train increased the plant’s capacity to 20 million cubic meters per day. This was further expanded to 21 million cubic meters per day in 2011, before reaching its current maximum capacity in 2013. In July 2017, a second gas delivery point connecting the Nam Con Son Gas Processing Plant and the Dinh Co Gas Processing Plant officially came into operation, contributing to more efficient gas utilization and optimization of the overall system.

Dr. Nguyen Hoang Anh, Vice Chairman of VietKings and Secretary General of the World Records Union (WorldKings), presented the Vietnam Record certificates to Mr. Nguyen Thanh Binh, Chairman of the Board of Directors of PV GAS, and Mr. Pham Van Phong, President and CEO of PV GAS. On this occasion, Mr. Le Ngoc Son, President and CEO of Petrovietnam, presented congratulatory flowers to PV GAS.
Proudly marking the PV GAS imprint on the 35-year journey of powering the nation
The recognition of three Vietnam Records by VietKings is not only a great honor but also a well-deserved acknowledgment of the relentless efforts made by generations of PV GAS employees throughout different periods, in their journey to conquer clean energy and contribute to the country’s sustainable development.
These three projects—three powerful symbols—stand as vivid testament to PV GAS’s technological mastery, far-reaching vision, and unwavering spirit of innovation as the leading enterprise in Vietnam’s gas and energy sector. Building on this solid foundation, PV GAS continues to affirm its pioneering mission along a 35-year journey of powering the nation, spreading confidence and shaping a sustainable future for Vietnam.
