PV GAS CA MAU advances with PM3 stream
On April 13, 2025, PV GAS CA MAU – the representative unit of Petrovietnam Gas Corporation (PV GAS) in the Mekong Delta – officially marked a historic milestone with the successful reception of 30 billion Sm³ of wet gas.PM3 - Ca Mau gas system is not only the first gas project designed, constructed, and operated by Vietnamese engineers but also carries a profound mission: contributing to national energy and food security while driving socio-economic development in Vietnam’s Southwest region.
PV GAS CA MAU
Spanning 325 km with offshore and onshore pipelines, two gas stations, and one gas distribution center, PM3-Ca Mau system is designed with a transport capacity of 2 billion Sm³/year. It delivers gas from the PM3-CAA field in the Vietnam-Malaysia overlapping area to Khanh Binh Tay Bac commune, Tran Van Thoi district, Ca Mau province. The gas is then channeled through onshore pipelines, traversing U Minh Ha National Forest to the Gas-Power-Fertilizer complex in Ca Mau, supplying critical feedstock for key facilities.
Since the first gas flow on April 29, 2007, PV GAS CA MAU has progressively completed its value chain for power generation (May 2007), fertilizer production (September 2011), and a Gas Processing Plant (December 2017), solidifying its central role in the regional energy ecosystem.
After surpassing 20 billion Sm³ in June 2019, PV GAS CA MAU faced unprecedented challenges during the global pandemic (2020–2022). Upholding the principle of "safety above all," the team implemented the "3 on-site" model, accelerated digital transformation, and ensured uninterrupted system operations, stabilizing electricity and fertilizer production – key pillars of regional and national energy and food security. Concurrently, numerous technical innovations were deployed, reducing costs while enhancing system reliability and efficiency, further cementing PV GAS CA MAU’s exemplary status in the Mekong Delta.
